Google is supporting a plan to connect offshore wind turbines off the Atlantic coast to boost wind power as a clean energy source

The $5 billion wind power transmission line will stretch 350 miles from New Jersey to Virginia and could provide enough energy to light up 1.9 million homes.
Google said the project will rely on offshore power hubs that collect power from wind farms and distribute them via undersea cables to electrical transmission systems on land.
Rick Needham, Google’s green-business operations director, wrote in a blog, “This system will act as a superhighway for clean energy”
He also mentioned the investment as a “calculated risk” for Google who is promoting the use of clean energy. Google, which is consuming massive amounts of energy powering up its data centers, is on a mission to become carbon neutral and has invested billions in solar and wind projects all across the US.
The next step for Google, it announced its developing technology that lets cars drive by themselves.
